The thesis
Most software treats your data as the price of admission. We don't. Every Twindevs product is local-first: the core runs on your device, cloud features are opt-in and disclosed, and we never sell or broker your data. Free and paid tiers run identical data handling — there is no analytics SDK to upgrade away from.
Why local-first
Local-first means your data lives with you, stays fast and available offline, and crosses a network boundary only when you decide it should — with the exact payload shown to you first. It is a harder way to build software: sync without a server-side source of truth, conflict resolution with no referee, five mail providers' quirks to test against. We think that work is exactly what keeps your data yours.
Principles
- Local-first by default. Your data on your device; the cloud is opt-in.
- Explicit consent. Every boundary crossing is shown, recorded, and revocable.
- No data brokering. We don't sell or share your data, ever.
- Truthful by default. We don't over-claim. If something is in preview, we say so.
